Del Valle FFA Chapter

Constitution & Bylaws

 

Article I: Name & Purposes

                            Section A:    The name of this organization shall be the Del Valle FFA. Members are referred to 
                                                    as FFA Members.

                        Section B:        MISSION STATEMENT

                  
FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.


    Section C: The purposes for which the Del Valle FFA Chapter has been formed are as follows:

Ø      To develop competent and aggressive agriculture leadership.

Ø      Increases awareness and appreciation of agriculture technologies.

Ø      Strengthens the confidence of agriculture students in themselves and their work.

Ø      Promotes the intelligent choice and establishment of an agricultural career.

Ø      Encourages achievement in supervised agricultural experience programs.

Ø      Develops interpersonal skills in teamwork, communication, human relations and 
                social interaction.

Ø      Builds character and promotes citizenship, volunteerism and patriotism.

Ø      Promotes cooperation and cooperative attitudes among people.

Ø      Promotes healthy lifestyles.

Ø      Encourages excellence in scholarship.


Article II: Organization

 

Section A:     The Del Valle FFA Chapter is a member of the Cen-Tex District, Area VII Association, & Texas FFA Association, which is chartered by the National FFA Organization.


Section B:      The Del Valle FFA Chapter accepts in full the provisions in the constitution & by-laws of the Cen-Tex District, Area VII Association, & Texas FFA Association, and the National FFA Organization.

 

 

Article III: Membership

 

                        Section A: Membership in the Del Valle FFA Chapter shall be as follows:

ØBe enrolled in at least one agricultural education course during the school year and/or follow a planned course of study; either course must include a supervised agriculture experience program.

ØShow an interest in the affairs of the organization by attending meetings and participating in other organized activities of the chapter.

ØPay all current state and national dues by the date determined by the chapter.


Article IV: Meetings

 

Section A:     Regular meetings will be the second Monday of the month at 4:15 PM (This is subject to change due to holidays, testing, etc…) Special meetings may be called as needed.

                  

 Section B:      Standard meeting paraphernalia will be used at each meeting. Standard FFA ceremonies and Jarrell D. Gray's Parliamentary Procedure will be used.



Article V: Dues

 

Section A:                 Dues for the Del Valle FFA Chapter will be Twenty dollars. The dues includes:

                                    National                                 $ 5.00

                                    State                                      $ 5.00

                                    Area VII                                $ 1.25

                                    District                                   $  .25

                                    Chapter                                  $ 9.50

                                                            TOTAL           $ 20.00

 

Article VI: Amendments

 

Section A:     This constitution may be changed or altered at any regular Del Valle FFA meeting by a two-thirds vote of members present, providing it is not in conflict with the District, Area, State or National FFA Organizations. Notice of proposed changes to the constitution must be presented at the meeting prior to the meeting in which the changes will be voted.

 
Bylaws

 

Article I: Fiscal Year

 

Section A:     The fiscal year will be from August 1st to July 31st of the following year.

Article II: Program of Activities

 

Section A:     Del Valle FFA officers will develop a program of activities listing official chapter functions to include; leadership activities, career development activities, public service activities, banquet, and scheduled meetings.

 

Article III: Officers

 

Section A:     The Del Valle FFA Chapter Officers will consist of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Reporter, and Sentinel. A student advisor will be elected if there are ten or more are candidates nominated.

 

Section B:      The Del Valle FFA Officers will be elected annually at the monthly meeting prior to the FFA Banquet. This election will be by popular vote (40 %), FFA Knowledge (25 %), Teacher recommendation (10 %) & FFA Involvement (25 %). Officers will assume their duties upon officer installation at the Del Valle FFA Banquet.

                       

Section C: All officers must be enrolled in at least one agricultural education course during the school year and/or follow a planned course of study; either course must include a supervised agriculture experience program.

 

Section D:     Officers are required to be in attendance at all called and special/emergency meetings. All officers are required to participate in each fundraiser. All officers are expected/encouraged to attend the State FFA Convention and Officer training camp. All officers are expected/encouraged to participate in LDE's (Leadership Development Events) and CDE's (Career Development Events).

 

Section E:      The Agriculture Science Teacher(s) shall serve as the advisor(s) to the Del Valle FFA Chapter. The Advisor(s) will have ultimate approval of any action taken by the chapter.
